July 3. We've been BUSY! Too busy have time
to update the web site! We've discovered that we LOVE swimming!
Birds too -- we LOVE birds! Most of our cousins, Ruby's litter, went
home; so we got their bigger room and now have the full run of the puppy play
area, including the "rubble pile" and swimming pool!

June 11. What a difference a week makes!
One of the big developments this week was the move of "Lee", the singleton
Labrador puppy, from Ruby's litter over to join Gem's brood! Lee had
been growing up with Ruby's puppies, but their play was getting a little too
rough for him. Lee is exactly the same size as Gem's pups, and their level
of development better matched to his now.
Yesterday Gem's pups had their first solid meal. That
was a big hit! They also started going outdoors for the first time.
Lee's been outside several times already, so he showed his new buddies what it's
all about!

June 5. Growing and growing. 3 weeks old today! The whelping box is gone away now and they have 2 crates to go in and out of at will, and a couple of x-pens to make an enclosure. Gem is starting to think about weaning them; now mostly nursing them standing up!

May 30. Every day they are walking better,
exploring more, playing and interacting with each other more!

May 25. The pups are growing ... 3 lbs+ now!
Eye are not open yet, but we can see them starting to unseal. This
weekend they should open.

May 20. Puppies are doing wonderfully well.
Gaining weight, exercising their lungs(!), and growing fast! Dew
claws were removed last night.

May 16. Gem's puppies arrived last night.
Six girls and two boys! The boys' ID marks are Dark Blue and Silver,
and the girls' marks are Pink, Orange, Lime, Lavender, Teal, and Dark Green.
Birth weights were a hefty 17 to 19 oz! Everyone is doing well.
Gem's being a good mother, though no so sure that her duties really should
include cleaning up the puppy poop! Official date of birth is May
15, 2011. Coat colors are going to be medium gold to
light blonde. Pink Girl has white toes in front!

We saw at least 6, maybe 7 puppies on ultrasound, and estimate she is carrying 8 or more!
