Ice is that ideal combination of a sweet, goofy guy at home, and an eager, confident retriever in the field.    Ice is currently has one AKC Master hunt test pass and will resume running tests in fall 2008.  In addition, he is training for an obedience competition career.   Ice is an excellent obedience dog, with strong natural attention, focus, and eye contact.    In the field, Ice is a confident reliable working hunting retriever.  Stylish, focussed, alert, with good marking and memory, and tractible.   He has inherited his sire's 'signature' leaping water entry!  During the winter hunting season, Ice hunts waterfowl with Doug on the Katy Prairie.

At home, Ice is a joy to live with.  Sweet and affectionate, silly and playful.   He gets along with everyone from intact males to young puppies.  He has an easy-going personality, adaptable, confident, taking everything in stride.

At 23 inches height, and 60 lb, Ice is a moderate and athletic dog.  He carries a practical, correctly-textured working coat.  Dark pigment.  Full dentition with a slightly level bite.   Hips OFA Good, elbows OFA normal, CERF, OFA cardiac clear, OFA/MSU thyroid normal, and Optigen DNA tested Clear for prcd-PRA.

Ice is one of a litter of three, conceived from 22 year old frozen semen.   His paternal grandsire is AFC Holway Barty.   Ice's siblings also work for their keep and prove that Ice's talents are no fluke.   Sister Ruby is training in field and obedience.  Brother Aid'N has his advanced FEMA certification and works as an urban disaster search and rescue dog on FEMA's Texas Task Force One.
